Ten years after Dr. King, gave his “I have a Dream” speech from the steps of the Lincoln Memorial, Dr. Delon Hampton PhD founded Delon Hampton & Associates Chartered (DHA). We are an award winning Civil and Structural Engineering firm based in Washington, DC, now celebrating 50 plus years of engineering excellence.
As a twenty-four-year employee of DHA, my role as the President & Chairman of the Board and is a testament to the legacy of leadership. It is rare that a company survives the death of its founder, it is common that once the founder dies, the company ceases to exist. Delon Hampton & Associates has successfully transitioned from founder-led to the next generation of leadership, but that’s not all.
In a climate where African Americans make up less than 6% of civil engineers, it was my proud pleasure to, on the first day of Black History Month 2024, announce the firm’s launch of a Scholarship Trust. This trust will begin to award four-year scholarships to qualified and selected African American students in the spring of 2024. This is DHA’s way of, ensuring that there will be a growing pool of engineers for the years to come.
