Delon Hampton & Associates (DHA) provided civil and structural design review services as well as construction observation support services for the multi-phase, master-planned development is located in Washington, DC’s Central Business District (CBD). The seven-acre site encompasses three city blocks and was built over a portion of I-395 utilizing a platform to support development of the 2.2 million SF project. The five mixed-use buildings will include primarily office space, ground-floor retail and restaurants (approximately 75,000 SF), below-grade parking, and a small component of residential use. As the largest undeveloped site remaining in the CBD, this development is designed to qualify for LEED Platinum certification.
DHA was retained directly by DDOT as a third party reviewer of the Capitol Crossing project construction documents. The project involves the extension of the I-395 tunnel from E Street, NW to Massachusetts Avenue. Our civil and structural design reviews included highway design, horizontal and vertical alignments, and utility designs. Utilities consist of new and relocated water mains, including a 30-inch water main along Massachusetts Avenue; sewer mains; stormwater drains; and electric and telephone conduits.
