The Georgetown Waterfront Park faces the Potomac River in historic Georgetown in the District of Columbia. The 10-acre park represents a 40-year effort to transform the Georgetown waterfront from an obsolete industrial site into a signature civic space meeting both national and local community aspirations. Delon Hampton & Associates (DHA) was part of the design team through a nine-year, two-phased implementation process involving numerous public meetings, fundraising, and coordination with District and federal agencies.
DHA performed civil engineering and construction management services for the development of the Park. We conducted a study of the infrastructure, existing utilities, and existing stormwater systems. Other services included pre-design and design services for the preparation of conceptual, schematic, and preliminary design documents as well as construction documents. We attended public meetings, developed bidding documents, and performed design analysis and value engineering services. Construction management services included project management, office support, submittal review, and site observation.
