Delon Hampton & Associates (DHA) provided structural and civil engineering services for this 15-story, 194-room extended-stay hotel that also includes a full-service fitness center, retail marketplace, conference rooms, restaurants, and rooftop lounge area. The hotel, adjacent to the Johns Hopkins Medical School Campus, is part of a massive redevelopment effort in East Baltimore.
Due to unfavorable ground conditions, DHA designed a foundations system consisting of a mix of a thick foundation mat and spread footings founded on aggregate piers. The building structure is also designed with reinforced concrete flat plates on columns with shear walls as the lateral resisting system.
